A cat’s life

A fierce little "holly" as she licks her lips.

The day was pretty so I was out on the farm.  While feeding the chickens, I heard a sound.  It was a kitten that had been pecked into a hole.  She was obviously abandoned by her mother and had ventured into the chicken yard in search of a meal.  The chickens had pecked her down unto the hole to protect themselves and would not let her out.  After pulling her out I could tell she was really malnourished and hungry.  Her body was limp and I wasn’t so sure she would even live.  Then I heard a second whimper.  Another kitten was in the barn as well.  This one, though, was a little more spry.  She gave a good chase, but when we finally caught her, she ate as fiercely as she fought her capture.

An emaciated little "Gizmo".

Lots of food and caring later, they are doing very well.  They have made our house their home.  My girls each claimed one as their own and both have become fairly friendly pets.

I have noticed this one thing about them however. They are crazy about each other. They play together, eat together, sleep in a little kitten wad, and even use the litter box together.

So the lesson is simple. Let’s be encouraged to love each other a little more. Not to the point that we use the john together, mind you. But let’s get back to the way we were as children — when our reason for getting up in the morning was to enjoy our lives and living them with each other.  We live in a world that wants to beat us down into a hole… as Christians we will see more and more persecution.  But together we

have comfort.  Together we have strength.  If  we will love each other more, I have no doubt that we will be stronger and healthier as we go through our daily lives.

Hebrews 10:24-25

New Living Translation (NLT)

24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

May God richly bless you, my friends. And if this blog has really touched that soft spot in your heart… you may even feel inspired to come over to my house for a visit! I’ll be glad to share a cup of coffee with ya, and even let you change the kitty litter!

There you have it!
